Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated 2026-10-04
1. No One Else's Personal Information
Do not enter, upload, or submit another real, identifiable person's personal information into a prompt or story without that person's knowledge and consent. This includes, for example:
- a full name combined with an address, phone number, or date of birth
- government-issued ID numbers (e.g., Social Security numbers, passport numbers)
- financial account, card, or routing numbers
- login credentials or passwords
- a specific real person's precise, real-time location
- health, medical, or biometric information about an identifiable person
You are solely responsible for the prompts you submit. StoryLoom is not designed for storing or processing anyone's sensitive personal data, including your own, and content you submit may be processed by third-party AI vendors (see our Privacy Policy).
2. No Attempts to Manipulate or Bypass the AI
Do not attempt "prompt injection," jailbreaking, or any other technique designed to:
- make the Service ignore its safety instructions or content rules
- reveal confidential system prompts, model instructions, or proprietary configuration
- generate content that would otherwise be blocked under this AUP
Do not use bots, scripts, or other automated tools to probe, scrape, or overload the Service outside of normal personal use.
3. Prohibited Content
You may not use StoryLoom to generate, upload, or share content that:
- sexualizes minors in any way, or that we reasonably believe involves a minor — we have zero tolerance for this and will report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or law enforcement as the law requires or permits
- depicts non-consensual sexual content, or is intended primarily to sexually gratify (pornographic content is not permitted)
- depicts prolonged, graphic, or sadistic violence, such as torture, mutilation, or gore described at length or dwelt on for its own sake
- threatens, incites, or glorifies violence against real people or groups, or gives instructions for weapons, explosives, or other means of causing serious harm
- depicts, glorifies, encourages, or gives instructions for suicide or self-harm
- harasses, bullies, defames, or reveals private information about a real person ("doxxing")
- promotes hatred or discrimination against people based on a protected characteristic (race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or similar)
- infringes another party's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property rights, or that you do not have the right to submit
- is illegal or facilitates illegal activity, fraud, or deception
- impersonates a real person or organization in a misleading way
None of this rules out danger, violence, or death as part of a story — horror, crime, war, and other genres that depend on them are welcome here, and a story can put a character in real danger and let you feel it. The line is whether violence is dwelt on for its own sake, as the bullet above describes, rather than happening and being carried through fear, danger, and aftermath.
4. Community and Sharing Rules
If you use a feature that lets you share a story publicly or with other users:
- follow Sections 1–3 above for anything you share
- do not share another user's private prompts, conversations, or account information without their consent
- treat other users respectfully — harassment of other users is not permitted
5. Reporting and Stopping Further Sharing
- Report: every shared story includes a "Report" option, or you may email support@charlestonapps.com with a link to or description of the content and why it violates this AUP. We aim to review reports within 3 business days, and within 48 hours for reports involving child safety or imminent harm.
- What happens when a report is upheld: StoryLoom shares stories as unlisted links rather than through in-app messaging or a social feed, so there is no ongoing in-app relationship between a story's recipient and the person who shared it, and we cannot control how a link is delivered outside the Service (for example, by text message or email). What we do control, and will use when a report is upheld: we deactivate the specific shared link so it no longer opens, and we may suspend or terminate the account that generated or shared it.
- Suspending or terminating an account for a violation deactivates every link that account has ever shared, not only the reported one. An account we've concluded is misusing the sharing feature doesn't get to keep its other shared stories live. Closing your own account voluntarily, with no violation involved, is a separate case and may be handled differently — see the Privacy Policy for account-deletion data handling.
- Contact: general questions about this AUP can be sent to support@charlestonapps.com.
6. Enforcement
We use automated filters that can decline to generate a prompt or block Output before anyone sees it. A person reviews reports and decides whether to suspend or terminate an account. We may, at our discretion and with or without prior notice:
- remove or restrict access to Output or shared content
- warn, suspend, or terminate accounts
- report unlawful content to law enforcement or other authorities where required or appropriate
Repeated or serious violations will result in permanent termination. See the Terms of Service, Section 13, for the full termination provisions. When we remove content or suspend or terminate an account, we will tell the affected user what we did and why, where the law requires it and where doing so would not endanger anyone or interfere with an investigation. If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal — a story's takedown, or your account's suspension — in the app; a suspended account that can no longer sign in is still given a way to submit and check on that appeal. You can also reach us by emailing support@charlestonapps.com. Either way, a person takes a second look.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this AUP from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. For material changes, we will give notice in the way described in the Terms of Service, Section 15. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated AUP.
