Up to 6 bobbins in total per account — after that, a plan or a spool

Stories are kept for 30 days after they are created

Subscriptions

A spool is one full-length story of 7 chapters. Every subscription includes a set number of spools each month. Narration is included on every plan, and a story you never have narrated costs half a spool — so the same plan goes twice as far if you read rather than listen.

Stories on a paid plan are kept until you delete them. Cancelling a subscription takes effect at the end of the billing period, after which your account returns to the free tier.

Spools expire one year after purchase
Unused spools can be refunded within 5 days of purchase

How stories are counted

A story is counted once its second chapter has been written — not when you start it. If you hold both a monthly allowance and spools you bought, whichever expires soonest is used first.

A story you have narrated costs one spool.
A story you only read costs half a spool. If you later have that same story narrated, the other half is counted then — and we tell you before it is, so you can decide.
Bobbins are never split. A free short story costs one bobbin whether or not you have it narrated, and spools and bobbins do not convert into each other.
Someone you share a story with never costs you anything. If they have it narrated, that is on us.

Buying in the app

The prices on this page are for purchases on the web. Purchases made inside the iOS or Android app are priced on that app's own purchase screen and may differ, because Apple and Google charge their own commission.
